I always liked the lushness of this guy's drawings(and his women--you really can't call them "girls" are neat, simple designs). This is a quick study/copy/call it what you will I did the other day on the cintiq. Not finished--but then how many of these doodles are?
I love this guy's watercolor technique...you really should look him up or get the new book devoted to him that Fantagraphics has put out.

Oozes the It! You would do well as the One After Dedini - just alike enough to evoke, yet more like your own sketches here than just any other's paltry imitations of a Dedini babe. I always looked forward to his work, which was wonderfully opulent yet easy to laugh at, and this is like icing on a cake - I'm grinning. ;-)

Jeez, even you must be getting tired of all these complements. To break from you everyday norm, I will now proceed to be mean, all while meaning to mean the exact opposite of what I mean down below (if you know what I mean).
Your work displays the professionalism of a five year old all while portraying the most meager of substances and originality. The masters would would be rolling over in their graves if your shabby work hadn't blinded them with such crudeness that could only be described as originating in "the darkest, deepest, depths of Lucifer's cold, cold heart." Dedini was a nice counter-point to all the "skinny babes" in Playboy. His stuff is nice, round, kinda squishy. very "squash and stretch" And his watercolors downright amazing. I havn't bought that book yet, but have poured through it at the store. Love your art and blog by the way. Just curious Jen, are you a fan of Disneyworld per chance? I love it for all its "designishness" If I taught design I'd recommend my students visit as a field trip.
I'm a big fan of the classic Playboy cartoonists like Dedini, Sokol, and Cole. This is such a beautiful interpretation. I'm always very impressed by the smooth looseness of your sketches.
