...in a word--yes. Search my other blog Blackwing Diaries; I have about 40 entries on him, about him and of his artwork, much of it lent by another animator and fan. Everyone is influenced by Fred Moore, I think. Well, practically everyone. : )
Wow, Jenny! You aren't kidding! There's quite a bit of Freddy Moore on your other blog. Now my question posted above looks pretty ignorant. haha. I think you're absolutely right when you say that (almost) everyone is influenced by him...whether they are aware of it or not.
btw, EVERYTHING posted in Blackwing Diaries is fantastic! I'm going to keep checking up on it from now on..Great stuff! I especially found your Marx Bros. entry fascinating (I'll be looking for the wet papers next time I watch The Cocoanuts). The Marx Bros. are my favorite comedians. I just finished reading Harpo's autobiography "Harpo Speaks!". I definately recommend that book to anyone interested in the life of a vaudevillian.
Hi Kali~yes, all these are drawn on the cintiq using a photoshop cs brush I made up.
There are a couple of "real" pencil/pen drawings mixed in here from months ago, but very few. I keep meaning to post some of my actual, physical sketchbook drawings(that was the original idea)--but it's such a drag to scan them-lazy me!
Scribbling on the cintiq is like drawing on a window with a giant sharpie--very fluid. Have you done it? btw I'm loving your paintings! I think I read you're using Dr. Martins? I love those! They make all other watercolors seem anemic. : )
What a blog! Spent a while reading it. The images you capture are very good. You tell just enough detail to get your point across; this is a very hard thing to do.
