A pinfeather here, a piece of down there...

I was describing to my friend Dave what happens when our African grey parrot has what I suppose you'd call a neurotic episode, which he's going through lately. He doesn't screech or bang his dish or do much else except...pluck. The poor fellow.

I bite my nails from time to time, so I understand, I think.

Nice sketch, I have a Grey too. We are so lucky he never plucks. So far. He does get aggressive with me as he's "mated" with my girlfriend, But Generally we get along. Mornings are worst as he get energy and separation anxiety-- by the afternoon he clams down because he gets' focused on her coming home. Do you have him out of his cage a lot? we have out almost all the time and I think that helps. They are pretty neurotic, but who wouldn't be taken out of his natural world?

Ha--Bill, it's amazing, the brotherhood(sisterhood?)of Grey owners--they have their individual quirks, but are overall so much of a flock, so to speak.
Usually our guy is a non-plucker, but you know how it is--any change, and--! A complete neurotic. Recently my husband (that's OUR bird's "special friend--lucky me, eh?)has been ill and so poor Dovetonsils here hasn't been getting exactly the amount of attention he's used to...but we've taken steps to rectify it. Much more quality time. : )
But we love him...our neighbors have a sometime-visitor of a military macaw, and every weekend he shows up next door I appreciate our grey more; GAD! the sheer volume!

Wonderful doodles. Love the loosey goosey lines. They all look Cintiq to me. Very nice. I particualarly like your girls and their 30's flair in some.

Thanks for sharing!

Parrots have the tempermant and emotional needs of a 2 year-old child. If they don't get the attention they feel they deserve, then they just start tearing themselves up. It sounds like you have a good handle on the stiuation, Jenny. Good luck!
(Oh, I worked in a petstore for 5 years, and myt parents own a Grey).

Jorge: thanks for the compliment! as for Space Thingy...well, Paul Fisher and I did preliminary character sketches. Paul's drawing of a Clampett-inspired "alien" is in the art of book.
The film hadn't started boarding yet, it was quite early. I don't think I have a credit on the film, but I certainly had a paycheck. ; )
