Dare

I've been reading a fascinating and disturbing biography of a strange and talented woman, Dare Wright--the author and illustrator(via black and white photographs)of the book "The Lonely Doll". She was a very photogenic woman(looking fantastic well into her 60s!), and the bio is filled with her self-portraits...so anyway, here's a quickie cintiq sketch of Dare.

I feel like I'm being literally blinded by greatness! :P Seriously though, love your sketches. What pencil do you use? You're blocking is always so clean, precise, and pleasant to look at. Is it any specific type of pencil? The blackwing possibly, or is that simply an eluding dream and this it's best replacement?

Ha--Edward-Juan, there are no fewer than three Jens in my immediate vicinity, including me. We all have each other's back.

BrianB, these are all Wacom Cintiq drawings, drawn on a tablet using a photoshop brush tweaked by my pal Dave Pimentel. I seem to never pick up anything corporeal at work anymore...

Alina, you're too sweet! Thanks! : )
